LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
USAC PRESIDENT'S OFFICE & APPOINTMENTS
      If you're interested in getting more involved in student government, apply to be on USAC President Jasmine Hill's staff for the 2010-2011 school year. Applications are due Thursday, May 28th (after they will be accepted on a rolling basis) and can be sent in via email or dropped off at the President's office in Kerckhoff 317. Pres. Hill is also responsible for making Presidential Appointments to important committees within the Undergraduate Student Association. Receiving a Presidential Appointment is a great way to gain further insight into student government and the inner operations of our University.

Applications for Jasmine's staff and Presidential Appointments are attached to this email.

ASU OUTREACH COMMITTEE
      The Afrikan Student Union Outreach Committee is a great opporutnity for leadership development and involvement within our community. The Outreach Committee works with the Internal Public Relations Coordinator in connecting ASU members to resources and opportunities in the community and representing the voice of Afrikan students on UCLA's campus. I am looking for 8-10 dedicated, outgoing and organized individuals for this committee. 

If you are interested in applying, the application can be found here.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after the first deadline for submission and notification of acceptance is Friday, June 4.

EVENTS
USAC PRESIDENT'S OFFICE: SUSTAINABILITY FORUM
        Learn how supporting sustainability on a personal and institutional level can affect college affordability. On Tuesday, May 25th, the USAC President's Office (2009-2010) will be hosting a lunchtime forum on sustainability and UC policy. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about how sustainability affects affordability. Plus, there will be food.

         What started off as a year-long process, has transformed itself into a willing commitment, a fulfilling perseverance, and an unforgettable journey. Samahang Pilipino at UCLA would like to share all of the hard work put forth by the cast and crew by inviting YOU to our 33rd Annual Samahang Pilipino Cultural Night (SPCN).

AFRICAN AMERICAN CONTRIBUTIONS TO UCLA HISTORY

       The UCLA Black Graduate Student Association in partnership with the Graduate Student Resource Center will present a day's long event offering a unique perspective on the role African Americans have played in shaping the University while focusing our attention on the alumni, the civic leaders and the places where African American leaders have made their mark on society. 

       The event will include an information/health fair, a noon time-concert and a symposium centered on the economic, political, academic and social contributions of African American to UCLA and Los Angeles at large.

CLIMATE STUDIES WORKSHOP
      Learn about pursuing a career in the geosciences with UCLA Professor of Geography Marilyn Raphael. The event will cover topics of studies, such as: the impacts of Climate Change, Tropical Climatology, Drought and Regional and Global climate change and variability.

UCLA researchers are interested in people's evaluations of social situations. As part of the study, you will read various scenarios and answer questions about your reactions to them. You must be 18 years old or over to participate in this research. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes.
