Good Evening ASU Family,

I hope all is well. This summer has gone very well thus far. I am pleased to report that your new ASU Staff is ready and eager to carry on ASU's legacy of excellence. The staff has a few upcoming staff retreats where we intend to build a strong foundation for next year's success. Remember to check out BLACKBRUINS.ORG for staff contact information and other important information. We will have ASU committee oppurtunities coming up very soon so look out for that!

                                                            Black Wednesday

Black Wednesday happens every Wednesday in Bruin Plaza; however, next Wednesday, 7/30, the BW will be cancelled due to Session-A finals. We will reconvene the following week. Make sure to come out and share, fellowship, and grow with you're fellow Black Bruins 8/5/09!

 Afrikan Men's Collective

We want to let everybody know that AMC is making its highly anticipated return to UCLA and the Afrikan Student Union this Summer!!! After a brief hiatus, Afrikan Men's Collective (AMC) is coming back stronger than ever!!! This hopes to be a AMC like You've never seen it before because we're *refreshed, rejuvenated, revitalized and ready *to: develop, support, and unify a strong community of Afrikan Men in order to create a sense of brotherhood and respect across campus and abroad. In order to this, AMC needs your support! 


 MEN: You're already apart of the collective, so we definitely need to see you and welcome your participation.

VIPS is Hiring
The Vice Provost Initiative for Pre College Scholars (aka VIP scholars or VIPS), is an AAP Program aimed at increasing the number of underserved high school students who come to UCLA and go on to graduate school. VIP Scholars partners with the Los Angeles and Pasadena Unified School Districts. 
 
VIP Scholars' Mentors works to: 1) Motivate students to consider admission to UCLA as a viable option 2) Relate personal experiences in coming to the UC system 3)  Increase admissions awareness and opportunities for under-represented students and 4) Assist in increasing the number of underrepresented (primarily African American) students elgible, applying, and admitted to UCLA.
 
APLICATION DEADLINE is SEPTEMBER 11th, 2009.

Afrikan Grad Chair, Higher Education Conference Chair, & Freshmen /Transfer Admit Weekend Chair

The Afrikan Student Union is looking for phenomenal leaders to head next school year's Afrikan Graduation, Higher Education Conference, Transfer Admit Weekend, and Freshmen Admit Weekend. We are looking for dedicated individuals that are willing to take Afrikan Grad, HEC, and the Admit Weekends to an even higher level of excellence than previous years. The application is attached to this email.
